An expert in the application of her knowledge, intellectual and practical skills to understand and manage the complex healthcare needs of individuals and society, Dr Ramokone Maphoto MBCHB, FC Path Viro (SA) has developed requisite resilience to meet the demands of changing healthcare environments over the past 15 years of her illustrious career in South Africa’s medical profession.
A nationally renowned pathologist with extensive experience in clinical/HIV Medicine/ infectious diseases/ pathology practice, training, learning, development, research and management.
She is a fellow of College of Pathologists of South Africa - Virology (FC Path (SA) Viro and holds Master in Medicine (Virological Pathology). She obtained various field-related diplomas throughout her career: Diploma in HIV Management, Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, Health Economics, and Advanced Health and Financial Management.
Her passion for information sharing and strengthening is realised through her work in lecturing at university level and providing technical leadership in some of the public health programmes in the country. Her other interests are health system strengthening in responding to infectious diseases burden, capacity building through training and patient care through multi-disciplinary approach.
